The question of whether to undergo a breast augmentation surgery or not is confusing to most women, but even more confusing are the options available for women who decide to undergo the surgery.
Most women have no idea what implants to go for and what to expect from the procedure. The decision to have a breast augmentation surgery should not be made on a whim as implants are not temporary things that you can just yank out when you do not feel like carrying them around. Here is a list of things you should keep in mind before opting to undergo the surgery.

1. Know the basics and risks

A number of women who choose to have breast augmentation surgeries are enticed by breast implants after photos showcasing excellent results. What they fail to understand is that the surgery is a lot more than good looks. It involves a choice of implants type, shape and size, an invasive surgery and the need for care after the surgery to maintain the

results. There have also been cases of implants bursting, scarring around the implants (which necessitate a second surgery) and implant rotation especially when the right sized implant is not used.

2. Implants are not permanent

Implants are not temporary and will need to be changed after a while. When choosing to have the surgery, keep in mind that you are signing up for future surgeries to monitor risks and reduce complications. You might manage to keep them for a decade or more - sometimes even 2 or 3 decades, but you will still need surgery at some point.

3. Get the surgery for the right reasons

If you are unsure whether to have a breast augmentation surgery or not, breast implants after photos might be all the

evidence you need to enable you make that decision, but you should be careful to look beyond the photos. Have the surgery when you are sure of it. For instance, it is recommended that you only have this kind of surgery when you are done having children and breastfeeding, and above all, have the surgery for yourself as it is the only way to make it worthwhile.

 4. Have realistic expectations

Regardless of what breast implants before and after photos show, you should remember that the augmentation is a man made procedure performed by a human being and not a miracle. As such, your expectations regarding the surgery must be realistic. Different people will have different results depending on the nature of their breasts before the surgery. Overall, a good surgeon will give excellent results but you should leave room for error and not expect perfection. After all, even nature is not perfect.

5. Regular monitoring is necessary

An implant surgery places foreign objects in your body and the risk of complications is real. As such, you should make sure to follow all the doctor's instructions and gear up for regular checkups to ensure everything is fine. Any signs of discomfort, abnormality and adverse effects should have you at your doctor's office promptly to avoid unnecessary complications.
