One in seven patients in hospitals experience a medical error. Medical errors can occur anywhere in the health care system: In hospitals, clinics, surgery centers, doctors' offices, nursing homes, pharmacies, and patients' homes.

If ever there are statements that still ring true to this day and need to be given attention to it's those made by Florence Nightingale (Florence Nightingale's maxim) "first do no harm" and The 'Hippocratic Oath' from ancient Greek medic Hippocrates which includes the pledge "to abstain from doing harm..."

Surgeries, medications and hospital stays are designed to improve a patient’s health. Therefore when patients are harmed by a preventable medical error, they can feel robbed of that natural expectation of help and healing.
